Darlin’ Deals Review ~ Pirate’s Dinner Adventure: Pirates Take Christmas!

Pirates Take Christmas

Disclaimer: I was offered a complimentary reservation to Pirate’s Dinner Adventure: Pirates Take Christmas in exchange for an honest review. I was not persuaded to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If ye crave adventure and holiday cheer, Pirate’s Dinner Adventure is the place for you this season!

This exciting dinner show has taken on the Christmas spirit with a holiday themed show from Thanksgiving through Christmas Day! The show takes place on a 46 foot Pirate ship in the center of a huge indoor ocean scene centered around stadium style seating for all to enjoy a thrilling show. The Adventure starts early with doors opening more than an hour before show time so you can enjoy Appetizers and Beverages (full service bar available). I highly recommend arriving early if you’d like to get a seat, they fill up quickly! Once the show is ready to begin you will be directed into the showroom where there are 6 seating areas that are color coordinated to the Pirates performing in the show and each section cheers on their Pirate to win various competitions and sword fights. The theme of the show changes seasonally, currently Pirates Take Christmas is the featured show and it comes complete with a Traditional Holiday Meal such as Turkey, Cranberry sauce, and Mashed Potatoes.

Here’s a little info about the Dinner Adventure (from Pirates’s Dinner Adventure website):

Set aboard an authentically replicated 18th-century Spanish galleon measuring 46 feet long, 18 feet wide with 40-foot masts, the ship is anchored in a 300,000-gallon indoor lagoon with night sky lighting. Surrounding the lagoon is a six-sided showroom of six additional ships where the audience is seated. Voyagers on each of the six ships have their own fearless pirate mascot whom they cheer on as the adventure unfolds with a cast a dozen actors, singers and stunt performers engaging in a bounty of action-packed exploits, accompanied by cannon blasts, pyrotechnics and plenty of laughs. In addition, more than 150 guests have the chance to play an actual role in each show as the evil Captain Sebastian the Black leads his crews of renegades on a swashbuckling adventure before your very eyes!

I had the pleasure of taking my 5 year old son along to enjoy the Pirates Take Christmas event at the Buena Park, CA location. They generously gave us the upgraded package that included bandanas, beads, and flags in the color of our section’s Pirate – the Orange Pirate! These items can be purchased individually at the Ticket Window to help you get into the festivities of cheering on your Pirate.

This Pirates Take Christmas show features a pre-show event in the bar area 15 minutes before the main begins where you witness Santa Clause’s daughter, Katie Clause, being taken captive by the Pirate Crew. Then the Adventure continues onboard the ship once you’ve been seated. Throughout the Adventure you watch as the Pirates battle it out to try to steal all the presents, they were told they wouldn’t be receiving any gifts this year since they were all on the Naughty List 😉 Throughout the show the Pirates play thrilling games, merrily sing songs, and take part in plenty of adventure! As the show draws to a close there is even a special appearance by Old Saint Nick himself!  Pirates Take Christmas was a fun and family-friendly show that kids and adults alike can both enjoy. However, keep in mind that it is a live action show and may have some noises that could startle little ones.

One of my favorite things about the show is how interactive it is. The Pirates come out into the crowd and choose volunteers to participate in the show. My son was selected to board the ship for a segment where children become Honorary Pirates. Onboard the ship the children are prompted to taunt the Pirate swearing them in with their wiggly dances and by making silly faces when he’s not looking. They also recognize people attending the show for special occasions such as birthdays.

This is a great place to enjoy any occasion whether its a Birthday, Graduation, Vacation, Holiday, or just a random outing any day of the week.
