Darlin’ Deals Review ~ Disney’s Cinderella {2015} on DVD + Blu-Ray!

Cinderella DVD

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary advanced copy of Cinderella on DVD & Blu-Ray in exchange for my honest review. I was not persuaded to write a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Ever since I was a little girl I aspired to be a Princess, not just any princess.. a Disney Princess! I would dance around pretending to be Sleeping Beauty and twirl my skirt imagining I was Cinderella dancing at the Ball. The desire to be a princess is common among little girls, but unlike that childhood fantasy that most grow out of I still remain enchanted by those fairy tales.

When I heard the rumors of a modern remake of the classic tale of Cinderella I was so eager to see it! However I never got to see the film in theatres when it released in March of 2015. I patiently awaited its release onto DVD and as luck had it that I was offered a complimentary early release of this film!

This enchanting movie follows the storyline from Disney’s 1950 version of this fairytale about a young girl treated as a servant in her own home. Cinderella (or as she’s called in this remake Ella) lives with her stepmother, played by Cate Blanchett, and her 2 stepsisters after the passing of her father. On the topic of her name being Ella, I was thrilled to discover the reason behind her unique moniker of Cinderella in this film, which is something left out of the animated version.

Due to financial struggles (and much jealousy) after the passing of her late husband, the wicked stepmother takes out her frustrations on her non-biological daughter, Ella.

Of course Ella’s plight in life is not to continue on with housework until she’s old and gray, she captures the interest of the Prince early on in the tale. As any good Disney movie plot goes the Happily Ever After doesn’t come easy. Ella’s stepmother tries to thwart the efforts of the Prince in reuniting with the woman who captured his heart at the Ball. As in the original tale all the Prince has as a memory of this beautiful woman he danced with is the glass slipper she left behind.

Following along the beloved storyline that many of us grew to love as children from Disney’s cartoon adaptation of this tale this movie brings with it all the elements found in the animated classic, save the over saturation of musical numbers from the 50’s film.

I highly recommend purchasing this movie to enjoy over and over again, it is currently available for Pre-Order here (with a Lowest Price Guarantee!) and releases to the public for sale on Tuesday September 15th. One of the fun bonus features included with this film is the Disney short Frozen Fever.
